Editing
I have been editing articles since my sophomore year, when I began editing for the Blair Magnet literary publication, SilverQuest. As someone who loves rhetoric and grammar conventions, I derive true joy from editing.
My edits not only improve the quality of the articles but also the writers' own understanding of journalism; I leave constructive comments that help our writers improve upon their writing abilities. I am always happy to meet with writers during class to discuss or go over my edits and comments.

Silver Chips has a 52-page manifesto to remind stafers of key tips. Each staff writer on Silver Chips must pass a manifesto test at the beginning of the year. As a staff writer last year, I studied the rules of the manifesto meticulously and managed to score a 100% on the manifesto exam. As editor of the Op/Ed section this year, I was in charge of creating the Op/Ed section of the manifesto. I wrote comprehensive writer's tips to help guide writers as they write opinion pieces. |
