Welcome! My name is Amanda Liu, and I am a rising freshman at the University of Maryland at College Park interested in data science, public health, and public policy.
In high school, I served as the managing Op/Ed Editor and Design Editor for Silver Chips Print, the print newspaper for the largest public high school in Maryland. I worked to cover issues pertinent to our diverse student population and distributed our paper to community members. During my time on Silver Chips Print, I won a Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Circle Honorable Mention for "Waiting for the green light," a feature about the process for students to gain citizenship in the United States. I was named the 2020 Maryland Student Journalist of the Year by the Journalism Education Association. In college and beyond, I hope to cohere my interests in STEM and journalism by bridging the information gap between the general public and health research. |
